Description
As a child my sisters, my cousins and I would spend our time roaming through fields and exploring the wonders of the countryside . Stumbling upon stepping stones was always so much fun, we always thought they would lead us to a secret world. This piece captures that playful innocence.
This piece measures 38x42cms. It is made using a combination of Carrickmacross and Kenmare Lace techniques. It was worked from a series of drawings and original artwork and took approximately 80 hours of hand-stitching to complete. The thread is delicately intertwined creating a variety of delicate and intricate patterns. This piece is part of a larger collection called My Grandmother’s House, which evokes memories of childhood experiences in rural Ireland.
