She went on to complete a Bachelor of Design in Textile Studies where she specialised in Lacemaking. Since then she has dedicated her time to making, reading, writing, teaching, learning and talking about lace. Her work has been exhibited extensively and she has been invited to demonstrate Irish lacemaking skills and present her arts practice in the US, Canada and Europe.
She has learned from master lacemakers such as Nora Finnegan (Ireland), Marina Regueiro (Galicia), Pierre Fouche (South Africa), Veronika Irvine (Canada) and Lieve Smets (Belgium).
In 2021 she completed an MA in Art and Research Collaboration where she focused on lacemaking for both studio and academic research. Her work explores themes relating to domesticity, traditional women’s work, memory and loss, where she clearly positions it within the context of contemporary art and design, A key area of her interest is in preserving the techniques handed down for generations, by the women who came before her. She aims to do this by attaining a high level of technical skill and sharing this with others through workshops and educational programmes. She currently lives and works in Dublin, Ireland and spends as much time as possible on the remote Beara Peninsula in west Cork.
